The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) is a globally recognized organization renowned for its analysis and rankings in the football world. Founded in 1984, the IFFHS is dedicated to documenting and evaluating football performances, providing annual rankings that significantly influence the perception of players and teams on an international level. The federation gathers opinions from an international jury of football experts, who combine their direct observations with statistical data analysis.

This integrated approach combines the rigor of statistics with the complexity of the role, including non-quantifiable aspects such as the emotional and tactical impact of a goalkeeper. The evaluation criteria, therefore, merge quantitative data based on objective metrics like national and international titles won, with subjective elements derived from qualitative assessments, essential to capturing intangible aspects of performance, including the direct contribution to a team’s success.

For the 2024 awards, the jury consists of IFFHS members, including sports journalists and football experts from 75 countries across all continents. However, the specific names of the jury members have not been disclosed.
